Saturday, March 3, 2012 will be a return to the good old days.

Three 6-end games for 10 teams.  Entry $360 includes a new straw broom, lunch and dinner.  Teams will be allowed to switch positions every end/or rotate in a 5th player ($65 extra)

Pierre Mondor throws his first curling stone.

Pierre has been out on the ice for his first curling lesson.  You can judge from the picture how well he did.

You can also come out to the Battle of the Sexes on Wednesday Dec 21 to see Pierre curl his first game.  Call the club or drop in to sign up at the bar.

Membership fees are due in full by September 15^th, 2011.  A surcharge of $25 will be added if payment is late (i.e. not paid by that date). Teams must consist of at least four fully paid members in order to ensure a spot in a league.  Teams without four fully paid members have the option to pay the fourth membership fee to retain their spot.

I am very pleased to announce that we have hired Pierre Mondor as the General Manager of the Rideau Curling Club.

Pierre will start work at the club on Monday, September 12^th.

Pierre comes to us from his position as the General Manager of the Larrimac Golf course (he is not a curler, but is keen to learn about curling) where he worked from 2009-present.  Prior to that he was a Manager at the Lone Star restaurant in Kanata, and also worked at in other F&B positions.

He is married and has two small children, and is fluently bilingual.  He is originally from Saskatchewan but now lives in Gatineau.

We will be having an open house at the curling club on Tuesday, September 27 from 6-9pm and I hope that you will come out and welcome Pierre to the Rideau Curling Club.  We will also be making a farewell presentation to Audrey Frey, to thank her for her 10 years of service as the our General Manager.

I look forward to our season of curling and hope to see you on the 27^th.

The Rideau Website is being updated. Most things are in the same place for now.

New features include:

• sponsors appearing according to their sponsorship level
• better control of club news items, with timestamps and history
• online forms and applications

The MCR Signs event will be held starting either Thurs Nov 3rd (draws would begin at 4:30pm) or Fri Nov 4th (depending on the number of entries) and running until Sun Nov 6th. This is a 24 team men’s event and the cost is $630.00 per team.

We had a wonderful day for the Rideau golf tournament this year with 96 golfers playing at Cedarhill golf course. We had a great afternoon of golf followed by a nice dinner at the clubhouse. A good time was had by all.

Low net winners in each division were:

• Mixed (59) – Terri Sinclair, Ken Maughan, John Thomas, Sean O’Brien
• Ladies (68) – Pat Taylor, Janice Weatherspoon, Nancy Fowler, Liz McCourt
